Carter Murray are pleased to be working with a leading, International Environment non-profit organisation who are looking for a Director of Communications on a PAT cover contract for 18 months.

The Director of Communications will lead the Communications team within the M&C function, covering Internal Communications, Storytelling & Data Insights, and Media Relations and Spokesperson Engagement.

You will champion the brand and elevate their external profile with purpose in the market, while aligning activities with their internal culture and strategic direction.

Duties

· Owning and delivering a Communications strategy in alignment with the marketing and communications campaign plan to meet agreed objectives and KPI’s.

· Lead Internal Communications, Storytelling & Data Insights, and Media Relations and Spokesperson Engagement teams.

· Ensure the successful rollout of brand development, internal employee engagement and culture programs, and strategic direction.

· Elevating external profile across media, events and key external partnerships.

· Ensuring alignment and value from strategic partners.

· Grow, manage and develop a strong, talented and well-functioning communications team with operational excellence.

· Build and maintain a network of top-tier journalists.

Skills & Experience

· A strong existing network in the corporate sustainability, ESG data or climate policy space, including media and other key organisations.

· Ability to understand and publicly communicate complex and sensitive organisational issues.

· Have advanced knowledge of environmental issues, market data needs and direction of travel on key climate and nature topics.

· Experience of working with partners to deliver data analysis and insights.

· A results-driven mindset.

· Experience in leading large, global, diverse & distributed teams and developing strong collaborative, accessible and inclusive working relationships to succeed.

· Confidence in working with senior stakeholders internally and externally, using tact and diplomacy, and knowing when to challenge in the appropriate manner.

· Strong business communications experience and a very capable command of business language.
