Recruiting seven new marketers for one global consultancy firm within 12 months
The challenge
At the start of 2024, Carter Murray was engaged by a global consultancy firm to grow and restructure its existing marketing team. Throughout the year, we helped them recruit seven marketers of different levels, employment types and specialisms.

Q1 2024
Two Marketing Executives
Initially, the firm required two new Marketing Executives to support its diverse global brands and senior marketing leads.
Q2 2024
Graphic Designer
As the year progressed, the client also required a specialist in-house Graphic Designer with hiring processes under tight time constraints.
Q3 2024
Two Marketing Managers
Later in 2024, the firm looked to grow the team further to suit the needs of its growing markets and networks. They decided to split an existing role in two by hiring a Marketing Manager for the EMEA market and a UK-based Marketing Manager to support brands operating outside of EMEA.
Q4 2024
Marketing Manager FTC
At the end of the year, another Marketing Manager was required on a fixed-term contract to provide continuity during a long-term staff absence. Carter Murray was briefed to shortlist, interview and place a candidate within two weeks.
The seven roles presented distinct challenges:
- Finding candidates with relevant skillsets to successfully hit the ground running in their new role
- Ensuring hires would be able to integrate seamlessly and add to the company culture
- Maintaining candidate engagement throughout multi-stage interview processes
- Securing an external, fractional Senior Marketing Consultant with relevant career experience and the flexibility for an interim arrangement
- Finding a high-quality contractor quickly who could start immediately
The combination of precise requirements, suitability, process complexity and speed required a bespoke and strategic approach.
The solution
We worked closely with the consultancy firm to help shape and grow its marketing team, ensuring the structure was set up to meet immediate needs and longer-term goals.
Our specialist recruiters – Wendy Gray, Patrick Sommerfelt and Jake Hennis – took the time to understand the client, what was needed and the kind of people who would thrive in the team.
To find the right candidates, we used a mixture of approaches. We worked with the consultancy firm to refine the job description, encouraging them to focus on relevant skillsets rather than solely experience.
We then advertised the role on relevant job boards (including our own and LinkedIn). We also tapped into our established networks to reach professionals with the right skills at the right level – many of whom weren’t actively looking but were open to the right opportunity.
We made sure to communicate what made the roles exciting: the global scope, the chance to work across different brands and real opportunities to grow in their careers. We received hundreds of applications to screen but for each position, we sent the client a shortlist of four to eight carefully selected candidates who ticked all the boxes (and more).
The outcome
By the end of 2024, we’d successfully placed six marketing professionals, including a fractional Senior Marketing Consultant, to help evolve the firm’s marketing team. These hires have strengthened the team’s ability to support global brands and deliver business results.
Each new team member has settled in quickly and made a real impact, driving the firm’s marketing efforts and supporting its broader goals.
